Records all instruments which maybe filed for records consisting principally of deeds, contracts, leases, easements, plats & surveys, section corner certificates, plat proceedings, mortgages, mortgage releases & assignments, affidavits, federal & state tax liens, military service records, trade names and agreements in addition to numerous other documents Sells hunting, fishing & fur harvester licenses as well as deer & wild turkey licenses, also habitat, migratory birds & trout fees Issues landowner/tenant gun and archery permits. Registers/titles boats, snowmobiles, ORVs & ATVs.Collects use tax for Department of Revenue on recreational vehicles. Registers birth, death & marriage certificates. Issues marriage licenses. Certifies vital record copies. Files detailed reports monthly and annually to the county and to state agencies. Collects real estate transfer tax on conveyances of property. Acceptance agent for U.S. Passport Service. Takes passport and visa photos
Eligibility requirements
Nominations: Candidate can be nominated at a Primary Election, after a Primary Election by Political Party Convention, nominated by a non-party political organization convention, and by a nomination by petition. All people seeking elected office must be a citizen at the time of the election, an Iowa resident at the time of the election. Registered voter of the county/supervisor district when sworn in. Must be 18 years of age, with exception of the County Sheriff for which you must be 21 years old. An eligible elector may not: Be a convicted felon, be currently judged incompetent to vote by a court, and claim the right to vote in any other place.
