What does it mean to be Anti-Corruption?

First it is to abide by the Anti-corruption Act as proposed by Represent.us to set a standard for local, state, and federal laws that fix our broken elections, stop political bribery, and end secret money. GoodParty.org Certified candidates agree to abide by the Anti-Corruption Act as a part of taking the GoodParty.org Certified Pledge.

Its core elements are:

  1. Fix our broken elections.

  2. Stop political bribery.

  3. End secret money.

Additionally, GoodParty.org Certified candidates agree to do more than give lip-service to transparency and accountability by operating as transparently as possible if elected, by:

(1) Publishing their Calendars

Make as much of their official and campaign meeting calendars available and open online for constituents to see.

(2) Providing Live Updates

Use innovations in communication technology to interact with and inform constituents - including but not limited to live-streaming every possible meeting and allocating a reasonable portion of official and campaign budget to the technology (mobile apps, phone, body cam, Youtube, Facebook Live, etc.) necessary to do so.

(3) Recording and Archiving Meetings

Record all meetings on public time and make them close-captioned, archived, keyword searchable and available online as quickly as possible. For any official meeting not legally permitted to be live-streamed or recorded, pledge to summarize the meeting's purpose and content to the full extent allowed.

(4) Reporting and Disclosing Issues

Immediately report any conflicts of interest or attempts to unfairly influence them or their staff to all appropriate stakeholders, including their constituents, the FEC, and law enforcement.
