Job description
State Senators are members of the state's upper chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State senators are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Eligibility requirements
A candidate must be: A United States citizen at the time of election, have resided in the state for at least 2 years and in the district for at least 1 year before the election, be at least 25 years old upon taking office, and have registered to vote in the election district the person seeks to represent not later than the deadline for filing the declaration or petition of candidacy or certificate of nomination
